John Graham-Pole
As a retired pediatric oncologist, I’ve long been busy publishing short stories, essays, and poems, most inspired by my work caring for children with cancer and their families for 30 years. I keep in touch with a good few of these young people, some of them now in their thirties.
Recently I’ve committed myself to full-length books focusing on the growing field of the arts and our health. My memoir, “Journeys with a Thousand Heroes”, was published by Wising Up Press in July, 2018 (see my website, www.johngrahampole.com, and Wising Up’s website, www.universaltable.org/). You can find several reviews on my and Wising Up’s websites, so please post your own review on these websites – and of course on Amazon!
My wife, Dorothy Lander, and I are launching our own publishing house, ‘HARP: The People’s Press’, in late November, 2018 (see our website, www.harppublishing.ca). It is a niche press specializing in print and online books, zines, CDs, and DVDs that cover all aspects of art and health for the non-academic customer. Our first book – to be published simultaneously with the launch of HARP – is titled “The People’s Photo Album” (see our website). Several other publications are ‘in the queue’. My YA novel, “Blood Work” – told from the viewpoint of a 16-year-old girl with leukemia – will hopefully be out in 2019.
