After leaving the big city following the tragic death of his fiance, Jeremy Pendelton impetuously and aimlessly motors south, ending up in False River, Louisiana, where he hopes to start his life over. His decision is the first step in his character’s transformation from shy bookworm to confident sleuth. Jeremy takes the room at The Come On Inn which was vacated recently due to resident John Flannery being found dead in his bed. While the owner and residents of the Inn generally believe Flannery died of a heart attack, a reporter for the town’s newspaper suspects foul play due to the fast-tracking of the disposition of Flannery’s body by the police. Jeremy is soon befriended by the reporter who seeks Jeremy’s assistance as an inside man in uncovering the truth. The residents of the Inn are an odd group of characters, except for Polly. Their mutual interest in literature draw Polly and Jeremy into a close relationship.
MURDER AT THE COME ON INN is book one in the Jeremy Pendelton Murder Series, followed by MURDER AT THE CAPITOL RACEWAY and MURDER ON THE FOURTEENTH TEE.
