Following a stroke, Tom has been nursed back to health by his loving wife, Patricia, in suburban Tonbridge Woods. After weeks of therapy, there is a step change in the progress of his recovery. A new inner self begins talking to him- in his mind. At the end of an exercise session in the park, Tom overhears two bank employees planning to rob a drug dealer’s courier of their profits. Tom alerts the police, who arrest the courier and impound the cash.

Tom complies with the criminal’s demands and K flees with the cash after the police botch the arrest attempt without identifying Tricia’s location. K heads for the Channel Tunnel but is arrested and returned to police custody in Tonbridge Woods.
